Following the announcement of Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, Ubisoft had the game playable at their Gamescom booth. Outlets such as IGN, DualShockers and RPG Site have already had a chance to play an early build and share their thoughts.
Ubisoft has also released a gameplay overview trailer on their YouTube channel.
In addition to the information from the game announcement, here are some key details from the previews:
– While the graphics and UI have been completely redone, the gameplay remains faithful to the original.
– Development began around the same time as Olden Era.
– Ubisoft has involved community map and mod makers in the development process.
– Members of the original HoMM 3 dev team are contributing to the remake.
– Modding is officially supported, and even some mods created for the original game may be compatible.
– New players will have access to a tutorial campaign teaching the basics of HoMM gameplay.
– A new strategic overview screen for the overworld map has been added.
– Building queues and the ability to assign heroes to automatically visit map objects are included.
– Sound and music has been remade; there’s no official word yet on whether the original soundtrack will be available.
– A random map generator is included.
– Online multiplayer features improved matchmaking and simultaneous turns.
