Unfrozen has rolled out the Q3 roadmap patch for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, bringing some long-awaited multiplayer and quality-of-life improvemens for the game.
One of the two new big features is the new Alliances system, which lets players team up and play cooperatively in both PvE and PvP modes. There are five new templates pre-configured for Alliance play, and you can choose to team up with human or AI players. Alternatively, you can use and modify an existing template, or create a completely new map with the updated Random Map Generator.
Another new feature is the long-awaited Advanced Random Map Generator, which is accessible from the Quick Start menu for PvE gameplay. Players can now create a truly random map and fine-tune several map settings:
– Win conditions
– Map size
– Player number and alliances
– Resource richness
– Number of heroes
– Map symmetry
Unfrozen promises to update the Advanced Random Map Generator further based on player feedback.
In addition to the new main features, save/load menus have been redesigned and matchmaking has been improved.
Full patch notes and plans for upcoming updates can be found in the Steam news post.
